Library Treats

I love to bake and bring in fun treats to school.  I didn't do this nearly as much as I would have liked this past year but I'm planning to be better about it this year.  I saw this super cute idea on Pinterest, originally from here, where muffins were paired with If You Give a Moose a Muffin.

I think it would be so fun to bring in treats that go with a book once a month.  I've come up with a few food themed books so far: 
  • Blueberries for Sal
  • If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
  • The Runaway Latkes
  • Gingerbread Baby (or any gingerbread book!)
  • Popcorn: Poems/The Popcorn Book
  • Bunnycakes
  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (although I don't like meatballs - at all!)
  • Pickles to Pittsburg
  • Green Eggs and Ham
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
  • James and the Giant Peach
  • I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato
Any other ideas???

    Very cute ideas! :) There are many pictures around Pinterest of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" parties. I've never read it, but apparently he eats all sorts of foods. You could set up bowls with each of the things he eats as shown here:

    Also, in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", the children are scared of getting "the cheese touch", which is obtained by touching a stinky piece of sliced cheese on the blacktop. You could dare kids to buck up the courage to eat it, hehe

    Thundercake - we used the recipe from the book and made them into cupcakes so it would be easier to give to the kids.

    Also Stone Soup - The kids brought in the ingredients and hid them around the room and when I read that part of the story they went and got it and put it in the pot. The upstairs was hating us because of the good smells that went up to their rooms.
